Ardrahan Cheese and Wine Pairing

Description: Ardrahan is a glorious washed-rind, semi-soft cheese from the south of Ireland. It has a creamy, nutty palate similar to a Swiss Appenzeller. Ardrahan is made exlcusively on the Burns family farm in Duhallow - a County Cork town reputed for its clean environment and rich pastures. Ardrahan has won sevral awards, with judges repeatedly finding it a complex, flavorful, zesty cheese, and we concur.

Type of Milk: Cow

Where is it Produced: Ireland

Wine Pairings:

Pinot Noir: The washed rind cheese has a big aroma but a very pleasant nutty flavor. A pinot with big fruit notes and stronger tannins would be well suited for Ardrahan.
Chianti: This full flavored cheese, with savory undertones and a mild nutty flavor is complemented by the earthy, big red fruit and tannic structure of the wine.
Sangiovese: This full flavored cheese, with savory undertones and a mild nutty flavor is complemented by the earthy, big red fruit and tannic structure of the wine.
