Wine and Cheese Pairing  > Beaufort

Beaufort Cheese and Wine Pairing

Description: Beaufort is made in the French Alps and is creamier and richer than other Alpine cheeses like Emmental, Gruyere and Comté. Its flavor is certainly nutty, but also creamy and sweet. Like Gruyere, Beaufort melts well and is perfect for fondue or hot sandwiches.

Type of Milk: Cow

Where is it Produced: France

Wine Pairings:

Syrah: The natural almond and nut flavors, as well as a little cave influence on this cheese, makes for a perfect match to the fruit forward, dark richness of the wine.
Cabernet Sauvignon: The hard dense texture of the cheese is packed with hints of caramel and meadow flowers, when combined with the red, dark fruits and smoky tones of the wine.
