Tasting Flight 4/17/06
Travel Much?
Having been on two flights last week, I found the Seattle Times article on American Airlines wine plan interesting. It is certainly a tough time for carriers in the U.S., but that isn’t stopping American from pursuing a wine strategy for its first class cabin. The article profiles the consultant who does the wine buying for American. I wonder if he gets to fly first class or if he is stuck in the back of the plane with a plastic cup of Yellow Tail?
Carbs and Cabs
I know that you lie awake at night wondering if that extra glass of Cabernet Sauvignon you enjoyed at dinner could help push you over the edge with a few extra pounds. I thought I’d post this Q&A article from the Gwinnett Daily Post, where the author explains that nearly all dry wine (not sweet/dessert wine) has less than 7 grams of carbs in a 5 ounce serving. Rest assured, the wine won’t make you fat - but the chocolate mousse cake might.
The Vino Tango
I have had so many friends down in Argentina over the last few weeks, that as soon as I saw the Washington Post story on Argentina’s wine country, I wanted to write something. From the tango to Mendoza’s wine region, Argentina is a new hot destination spot. I’m going to try to arrange a trip in the next year to visit. And until I do, I am still going to enjoy the Argentinian wine gems, ranging from the Argentina’s best, Cheval des Andes, to the affordable and fantastic Terrazas Malbec Reserva. If you are just learning about Argentina’s wine world, I’d also suggest checking out Wines of Argentina - the helpful trade organization for the country’s wine world.
