Hot Wine Trend
The San Francisco Chronical attacks a growing debate in the wine world - how much alcohol is too much? Many wine drinkers have noticed that the %abv (the amount of alcohol in a bottle) has slowly inched into the teens for even the lightest of wines. This means that you suburban dinner-party fans need to moderate your drinking a bit more. It is an interesting debate, because consumers are buying more wine. But, winemakers are not always thrilled about the rising alcohol level. I enjoy the extra boldness imparted by a few percentage points alcohol (and of course the better buzz), and I love living in New York where I can just take a cab home.
As If Napa Traffic Weren’t Bad Enough
California UPN 13 is reporting that President Bush will tour Napa Valley and do some wine tasting on his upcoming trip to California. The Presidential advance team is scouting the route from the Bay Area up to Wine Country. They will be closing down various stretches of the route for his trip. That should make the drive so much more relaxing for natives. And, I could sworn that the Big Guy was dry. I am not sure who I think is less intelligent - the UPN team that made the report, or the President who never gets to enjoy great wine (I am not going to make any political commentary).
