Considered by many to be the world's greatest wine-producing region, Bordeaux is an area in southwest France. Red wines make up over 75% of the production, but there are also famed sweet white wines from Sauternes, and dry white wines from Graves. Bordeaux winemakers blend grape varieties when making their wines, as opposed to the common practice in the United States of varietal wines. The red blends are often compared to American Cabernet Sauvignon.
